+I love mondays for two reasons: my little missionary sister gets to email us AND the bachelor. mostly because of the bachelor though. HA kidding. but really--that show has me wrapped around its little immoral and dramatic finger. also, I love that taylor may actually secretly love it more than me.
look at how fashionable and cute this little missionary is!
2.5 months down!

+on friday I was driving home for lunch and I was behind a lane of cars turning right.  I was surprised at how long the line was (this is the same way I go home every day, and it is never this long!). The line wasn't moving at all! I was so confused as to why we were all stopped, and figured there was something upfront that I couldn't see.  So I'm sitting there for a good couple of minutes, just jamming to the radio and trying not to be annoyed.  Then I notice a person getting into the drivers seat two cars in front of me, and I think, "what the heck? was there no driver in that car?" AND THEN, stupidity. you guys, I was behind a LINE OF PARKED CARS ON THE CURB! hahahhah They were just all parked a little farther off the curb, so partially in the right hand lane, and here I was just sitting behind a line of parked cars for a good 3-4 minutes. hahah, I called taylor and could barely get the story out because I was laughing so hard.

+this weekend we went to boise to see our new gilbert sister run for BYU. we had the best time, especially during our little gilbert sleepover in the hotel. HA

+waving hello to my THREE DAY WEEKEND. i'm looking forward to my favorite three "r's" today: rest, reading, and running!

+just finished the book "all the light we cannot see." I recommend it with a warning that the beginning is slow, but the end is worth it. and I started the glass castle yesterday, and I can't put it down! any other recommendations?

+we went on another snowshoeing adventure! we seriously would go everyday if we could. it amazes us every time!

this time, we stopped for a "picnic" in the middle of a winter wonderland.

+the other day, on my walk home from piano practice, I found a note tucked into my phone-case-wallet (whatever those things are called). it was a little love note from my cute husband. as I read it walking home, I had tears down my face, because he always knows exactly what to say and exactly when I need to hear it. I think i've read it 134287 times since.

+I kinda feel like my life is run my emojis. Whenever I feel an emotion, an appropriate emoji pops into my head and I wish I could somehow show them in every day life. does anyone know what I'm talking about? ha

+I keep having this back and forth dilemma about if I ever want a dog someday. you see, if we got a dog, I wouldn't want it to be an outside dog because that just kinda breaks my heart. BUT I also don't want an inside dog because they destroy houses, make the house stink (I have like this super sniffer that smells dog in any house that has a dog, even when the owner swears their dog is a non-stinky dog...I always smell it), shed hair, and I don't like the look of "dog beds" or "dog food" in the house. so...for those that have dogs or don't have them, what's your advice? I know this dilemma hardly matters, but just look how cute this face is!
plus, I think I'm driving taylor crazy with this constant dilemma, so I need advice from someone else. to dog or not to dog?

xoxo

  1. First: That is really hilarious that you were behind a line of parked cars....that really sounds like something that I would find myself telling a story about in my own life. Your snow shoe adventure looked beautiful...what a fun thing! I'm here on the California coast so I've never done anything like that. And finally I'm so glad your husband blessed you with that little note. The simple things are the best things. Happy Monday!!

  2. Get a dog! And a Roomba! Problem solved. Our Brittany Spaniel Charlotte is the light of our lives. Besides the dog bed & dog bowls, dogs really don't need that much stuff. Some toys & tennis balls and you're set. That golden retriever is adorable. Go for it :)

  3. Get a dog!!! I want a female golden retriever for when we get a bigger place, and I want to breed her, and since we will obviously be neighbors some day, you can get a male and we can make money selling adorable puppies! Cool.

  4. Get a dog! Especially that one :) dogs truly become your best friends and the little things like hair aren't as big of a deal. But you can choose to train them not to get on the bed or the couch... Everything else is easy to vacuum and dust. If you're not that strong willed and love a snuggle buddy like me... You just wash your duvet cover more than most people and break you back trying to vacuum the couch, it's totally fine! As for the smell, you can keep them as clean or as dirty as you want. I personally love the smell of my dog (though I can't smell her when I walk in my house, maybe you will have to come tell me if you can) and I think as long as you don't have four big inside dogs (like my in-laws) it's not too hard to manage the smell. Plus there are cute dog beds and ways to hide the bowls, check out Pinterest!

  5. SO many things;

-Why have I not gotten a day of fun-snow-shoeing invite with you two? ;)
-The parked car thing made me laugh out loud!!!
-I wish I could speak emojis -- if that makes any sense.
-We have the same dilemma all the time. We want a puppy, but won't be home on weekends much this year...and live in an apartment. I want him/her to have room to run, and be a puppy! I think I'd just feel a little selfish getting one right now.

    MWAH! Love ya!!!

  6. To dog! But I think now I'm waiting until my kids start asking for a dog haha. Okay and I feel like emojis are like how facebook statuses used to be. You know how when FB was so popular and everything that happened in life automatically was transformed in your head into a FB status?! hahah that is so how my life is with emojis now.

  7. Haha that story of you behind the parked cars cracks me up!! That totally sounds like something I would do. Also I really want to go snowshoeing, I have never been before.

  8. Haha loved this post :)

Definitely get a dog (do extreme research first- I hear poodle type dogs don't shed so maybe that's an option?). Once you get a dog, you won't even think about your life before a dog (like the fact that dog beds/food inside a house annoy you haha). Of course, I have a dog, and I can honestly say, there's nothing annoying about him and even if I have to clean the house a little bit harder and a little more often, it's definitely worth it. Life without a dog is unthinkable, I'm not even kidding.

  9. Random thoughts are often my favourite - so cute about your love note, I was almost in tears too! I've had a dog my whole life and I loved it but there were many times that it became quite a struggle - to keep things clean, if they got sick and what happened to them when we went away. Now that we live on an Estate where animals aren't allowed due to the wildlife running around - I have quite enjoyed not having the mess, fuss and noise from a dog. All a personal choice though... x

  10. Yay for three days weekends. Fortunately for me, I had a three day weekend followed by two workdays. Woot woot! No kiddos till Thursday. It sort of makes me feel bad though for being so excited... yet, I still do miss the little boogers.

And as for the dog, Kevin and I got a dog right after moving into our home four years ago. Despite having his hair on almost everything, I couldn't imagine not having him. He may sometimes make messes, drag his toys out everywhere, and constantly smother me in bed... but then again my husband does the same thing and I love him just as much too :P

  11. I just finished a review of "The Glass Castle" on my blog. It's so so good! - I loved it anyways.
You'll have to tell me what ya think about it when you're done.

And getting unexpected love notes is the best! It sure sounds like ya got yourself a good man.
I hang onto all the ones my husband gives me - because they will only become even more special with time. :)

  12. I blame you for making me laugh hysterically at work, thanks to your waiting-behind-parked-cars story. I'm also watching The Bachelor this season. Why? Because my fiance loves it. So very strange...We have the same dilemma about getting a dog. Whenever I see one, I instantly start wanting one, but then I remind myself of the hard work and dedication involved and I talk myself out of it. We also live in an apartment and that would break my heart to leave him/her alone all day.

  13. GET A BUNNY!!!! They're 50 times easier than a dog, way cuter, AND they're super fun. I guess the downside is they aren't as playful and can't run with you but I mean... come on. Cuteness!

  14. I just laughed really hard at the parked car thing, and I only laugh because that is totally something I would do! I'm glad I'm not the only one out there who would do something like that :).

  15. I'm a little bias because I'm 1000% obsessed with my dogs but I think with plenty of research and knowing your wants, you could find the perfect dog for you guys! My oldest dog is a malte-poo (half maltese, half poodle) and he has hair instead of fur so he doesn't shed! Hypoallergenic dogs may be a good option too! I'm with Victoria - a life without dogs is unimaginable. There's nothing better to come home to, to cuddle up with, to play with outside and go on adventures with! They also always seem to know when you need some extra love! :)
