Happy Halloween!

Last weekend, Taylor and I went to an AWESOME Halloween party with a bunch of married/dating/engaged couples! ha!
A big thanks to Brody and Jenni for throwing such a fun party.
For Halloween this year, I went as a lion and Tay was a lion tamer.
Cute, right?
Our costumes turned out perfect!
And they were relatively cheap!
Thanks to D.I.
First things first: I had some great help with the finishing touches of my costume.
My great neighbor, Ali, did my eye makeup.
And Taylor's Aunt Jill teased my hair to the extreme for my lion's mane.
Everyone thought my hair was a wig...nope, it is really my hair.
Take a look!

Had to show off my little tail :)

Please excuse his creepy eyes and slipping mustache.

Brody and Jenni always go way out when it comes to party food.
We love them for that. ha

Towards the end of the night, I was getting a little worried about how I would ever untangle my hair.
But it only took about 10 minutes and a full bottle of conditioner!

Oh! We won the pumpkin carving contest!
And I won the costume contest!
Gilberts taking home the cake! ;)

Here's a creepy-style one just for fun :)

Dear Taylor:
Thanks for being such a good sport each year and being so patient with me dressing you up.
You are such a fun husband!

Happy halloween!

Saturday morning.

Taylor and I had such a wonderful Saturday morning.
We started it by attending the temple with some good friends.
Then, we went to the yummiest of all breakfast places: Kneaders!
Such a great start to our Saturday!

pea-coats and snow on the mountains means that winter is coming!!

The yummiest orange juice and french toast in town.

Halloween party tonight!
Look forward to lots and lots of pictures!

Halloween 2012!

Okay, kids.
I cannot WAIT for Halloween.  I know I already have a post dedicated to this same subject.
BUT, our first Halloween party is on Saturday night.
Which means our costumes finally get to come all together!
Tay and I just ordered some last minute things the other night.
So I'm hoping they come in the mail on time :/

I just love Halloween!
Hoorah for this fun season!

Oh, hey, chocolate covered bananas.

Last night, I made chocolate covered bananas for me and Tay.
They were so yummy!
I've been on a dessert making, craft making, yummy-food-altogether making frenzy lately.
It's making me feel like quite the housewife. ;)
We enjoyed our bananas while watching an episode of The Office.
Splendid night?
Yes! On all accounts!

This was Tay's attempt at a creepy smile...I think he accomplished it.

And hey...who's ready for Friday?
Because I sure as heck am!

Family Night

Last night, Tay and I invited two of our favorite couples over for games and dessert for family night.
We played a few rounds of catch phrase, and were laughing more than we could handle.
We had so much fun!

Taylor picked out the goodies, and he did such a good job picking "fall appropriate candies."  I was quite proud. Ha

Our dessert: nutella cheesecake with oreo crust. So yum!

I love good friends and good times!

Fall decorations

Yesterday, I invited some cute neighbor littles over to help me make some halloween/fall decorations.
We had so much fun!
And hey, they were cheap and turned out cute!
Always a double bonus.

Yes, I know that Halloween is less than two weeks away...but better late than never, right!?

So, here is a glimpse at our little ghosts:

 Please excuse my studious husband.

Oh, and of course, fall decorations wouldn't be complete without a cute fall banner.

Along with a few cute scarecrows and pumpkins, our apartment is surely feeling the season!

One long weekend.

I had fall break this last Thursday and Friday.
Which meant=no school! (aka work)
This is why you become a teacher! Ha.
Already looking forward to my next break in about two weeks! ;)

I had SUCH a productive few days:
deep cleaned our house
planned yummy fall dinners (and desserts!)
went grocery shopping
scheduled a doctor's appointment
babysat cute kids
shopped :)
gathered more things for our Halloween costumes
worked on craft projects
went to the dentist
...and more!

Oh, quick dentist story:
I have a love/hate relationship with the dentist.
I love going, because they always compliment my teeth. Brag moment? Maybe...ha.
(It's in my family genes...none of us have any cavities, and have generally strong and healthy teeth, plus I am a big teeth-cleaning-nazi)
I went to a new dentist this time, and he said, "Man! Where did you grow these teeth!?"
But...the hate part:
I have receding gums.  And so it's always pretty painful in those areas.
Turns out the dentist wants me to have gum surgery (replacing my gums with parts of my pallett).
Ugh :(
I'll keep you updated on that.

Anyways!
Two things I loved about our weekend:
We got to see our very best friend, Kelsey Briggs!
Kelsey has been with us since the very beginnings of mine and Taylor's relationship.
PLUS, she was part of the sneaky plan when he proposed!
Oh, we love her.

We also went through haunted houses and corn-mazes.
I never realized Taylor was SUCH a pansy when it came to these things.
He kept pushing me in front of him! Ha!
It was pretty scary.
But so fun!
(and...big bummer...both Taylor and I forgot our cameras/phones and so no pictures were taken during our haunted adventures).

So, here are some pictures of our evening with Miss Kelsey!

Victory!

 Birch beer and bananagrams!

Our creepy selves...

$3 project.

This season always makes me want to be crafty.
So I completed one crafty project yesterday.
Completely stolen off of pinterest.

And all it cost me?
Three dollars!
I got an old frame at D.I.
It was completely 90's looking.
Blue with gold trim.
So I antiqued it a bit.

And I'm loving how the whole thing turned out!

Left heart: We met.
Middle heart: We married.
Right heart: We live.
Each is a map of the respective area.
Then, I put a small heart over the actual city for each area.

Close up (see heart where Sacramento Temple is)

Pretty cute, eh?
Thanks pinterest!

Celebrating.

I celebrated fall by going tights shopping.

Picture attempt #1:
All the tights fall out of my hand right as the camera flashes.

Picture attempt #2: Much more successful.

So excited that it is now chilly enough to actually start to wear them!
p.s. thank you to forever 21 for feeding my tights addiction!

It's almost...

HALLOWEEN!

I am getting so excited!  I love thinking of creative costume ideas, and I love shopping for them even more.
I don't want to spill the beans yet...
but I'm hoping mine and Taylor's costumes turn out as good as it looks in my mind.
We have a few fun Halloween parties that we are looking forward to.
Pictures will come soon :)

Here's a Halloween picture from last year:

I love this season!

Laptop swap

When I got to work yesterday morning, I realized that I had accidentally taken Taylor's macbook instead of mine...
I immediately started freaking out.
For three reasons:
1. Taylor had a huge paper due that he had been working on all night.  I knew he had lots of documents on his computer that he needed for the school day.
2. All of my lesson plans and everything I needed for the day were on my computer (which was at home)
3. Taylor was still sleeping and I knew he would never wake up to me calling him over and over. I also knew that he wouldn't realize that he had the wrong laptop until the last possible minute. Plus, the high school is a good 20-25 minutes away from our home.

So, I started frantically calling him.
Over and over
and over and over again.
No answer.

Finally, about an hour and a half later, he calls me back.
And he was such a gem.
He didn't freak out.
He just calmly told me he would come switch the laptops.
I felt bad all day because I wasted an hour of his time (to drive to the school and back), when he could have been finishing his paper.

Thank goodness I have a nice husband for when I make silly mistakes!

The only bad part?
He won't let me live it down.
We frequently make bets with each other, and all yesterday he kept saying,
"Well, I automatically win, because you took my laptop this morning when I really needed it."
Dang.
How long is he allowed to use that?

Park City

Taylor and I celebrated our one year anniversary by going to Park City for the weekend.
It was absolutely perfect.
In every sense of the word.

We talked about possibly doing a few things, but as soon as we got there, we both decided that all we wanted to do was...nothing.  Absolutely nothing.
We just wanted to sleep in, cuddle in bed, and watch Netflix all day.
That might sound boring.
But when you're with your best friend (and when real life is stressful), it is absolute paradise.
Seriously. I recommend it.
We had so many laughs and we loved every second.

We had a beautiful hotel room at the Grand Summit Resort, with an absolutely breathtaking balcony view.

So, what did we watch on Netflix all weekend?
The Office.
It was a first for me!
And now I am obsessed.
And Taylor is re-obsessed.
Probably not the smartest idea to get hooked in the middle of a school year....
Oh well.

On Saturday morning, we slept in.
And that was awesome.
Then, we got ready and went to Pizza Hut for lunch.
Breakfast was well past. Plus, in one of the episodes, everyone was eating pizza.
And so we both immediately decided that looked delicious for lunch!

After lunch, we took a trip to the local grocery store to stock up on treats.
...so we could have something to munch on while we continued our Office-marathon.

This was us for the rest of the day:

With a little bit of feet-up-and-enjoying-the-beautiful-balcony-view mixed in throughout the day.

At around 7:00, we realized we were dying of thirst.
We failed to buy drinks on our treat-trip.
I was craving Starbucks, and Taylor was wanting a Pepsi.
One quick trip to satisfy our thirst, and then we were back in our hotel room and watching the Office.
One small problem though.
When we got back to the hotel room, Taylor realized we didn't have a bottle opener to open his pepsi.
#typicalmormonproblems

I took pictures and laughed while he tried to open his pepsi bottle with keys.

Then, finally...victory!

Other than some more balcony time, we stayed in for the rest of the night and watched The Office late into the night.

It was such a fun and perfect weekend.
Exactly what we needed this time of year.
We feel rejuvenated, fresh, and ready for a new week.

I had a full heart all weekend as I realized how lucky and blessed I am to be married to this boy (my best friend) for time and all eternity.
This year has been so wonderful.
I am so excited for many more.
But most importantly, for an eternity of togetherness.
